June’s SOW reads is titled “The Colour Purple” by Alice Walker💜. A book that celebrates the power of sisterhood, resilience and self discovery. A story highlighting the strength it takes to endure hardship and reclaim one’s identity in the face of oppression, both gendered and racial.

This line speaks to the importance of appreciating beauty, joy, and wonder in life, even amidst hardship. It reflects a central theme of the book: finding moments of grace and connection, no matter how challenging the circumstances.
From this book, I learnt the power of having a sisterhood that can help uplift you in times where you may feel disempowered💞. I very much resonated with Celies’ struggles of faith and losing trust in God. I have found myself in the same situation time and time again.
Like the Colour Purple, God brought me a lineage of women to bring me back into the realm where faith moves mountains and understanding that our lives are continuously divinely guided especially in times where we done see it🌸.
A truly emotional, comforting and groundbreaking book guiding you right back to your ancestors and acknowledging the sacrifices they made in order for us to be free today🫶🏾💕.
